KATAPYGON - Травматургия

ktp1_compressed.png

"Traumaturgy" is the second studio album of the mystico-philological collective ΚΑΤΑΠΥΓΩΝ (Katapygon), released after a six-year hiatus. Setting aside Latin and ancient Greek poetry (their usual lyrical material) in this album, ΚΑΤΑΠΥΓΩΝ delves into the poetry of the repressed, damned, and exiled poets from the 1920s-1980s, resurrecting the voices of Silver Age poets like Osip Mandelstam, Pyotr Otsup, Nikolay Zabolotsky, and others whose words still resonate with urgency today amidst wars and oppression. The sonic palette of "Traumaturgy" is an amalgamation of sampladelic manipulations with field recordings and found objects from industrial suburbs, along with modular synthesis, theremin, modified guitar pedals, and acoustic instruments—violin, saxophone, flute, and xaphoon—embedding the ethereal voice of Nikita Bogomolov, ΚΑΤΑΠΥΓΩΝ's lead vocalist.
